How To Keep The Car Stable In Winter?
Very cold weather has many potential dangers. So here are some auto parts that need to be checked before a long winter trip.
- Floating liquid
The float prevents the engine coolant from freezing, so make sure that the mixture is mixed in the correct proportion. Otherwise, the radiator or water pump will freeze, causing serious damage.
In winter or in areas with very low temperatures, cars need more concentrated cooling water. To select the appropriate cooling water, refer to the vehicle owner’s manual.
Some models have a very long shelf life of floating liquid, while others may need to replace the solution in a few years.
The floating liquid is highly toxic, so the lid must be closed tightly and kept in a safe place.
- Battery
Whether the car is driven by gasoline, diesel, hybrid or electric motor, the lower the temperature, the longer the working time of the battery. Each vehicle is equipped with 12V batteries to ensure the smooth operation of important electrical systems, so battery health check is very important.
If the 12V battery pack has been used for more than 5 years, please consider replacing it.
If you do not want to use the battery for a long time, please use the battery charger to verify whether the battery is in the best condition.
If you drive an electric vehicle, but do not plan to use it on holidays, please check whether the battery power is at least 10% before parking.
- On board equipment
According to national regulations, vehicles generally have basic emergency support equipment, but if you plan to travel in winter, please conduct a thorough inspection and prepare additional equipment.
Check the condition of spare tire and air intake device or related equipment, such as jack, screw changer or hook.
Carry a mobile phone charger. If the vehicle does not have a USB port, please purchase an adapter for the vehicle’s 12V socket. Usually very cheap.
Keep warm articles such as blankets, coats, hats, gloves and boots with you to avoid being trapped in the street in bad weather.
Put snacks such as water, biscuits or chocolate into the car in case of emergency.
Make sure that the oil tank is at least 1/4 of the oil tank. Because if you suddenly get stuck on the road, you need to start the car engine.
- Lighting system
There is less sunshine in winter, and bad weather will reduce the visibility in traffic. This means that the vehicle’s lighting system is an important factor to ensure driving safety.
Ensure that all lighting is working and clean.
Check the lateral signal lights and license plates carefully.
If there are more passengers/goods than usual, please pay attention to adjusting the headlight lighting angle.
- Tires
Tires are the only part of the vehicle that directly contacts the road surface. Their area is larger than one punch. Tires need to work harder in bad weather, so maintenance and tire status control are very important.
Tire grooves are recommended to be at least 2/32 inch deep
Check whether the tyre is damaged and whether the tyre pressure is suitable for the vehicle load.
If you want to enter snow and ice terrain, you must use a series of special tires suitable for your travel
